Ella at Kaffé 1870
As part of the Hundred Acre Wood silent auction in Wakefield Quebec, I donated a custom comic art drawing. The winner asked me to draw Ella as a gift for a friend. Ella posed at Kaffé 1870, her favourite hangout.
The First Dogs were Wolves
The first dogs were wolves. The wolves brave enough to approach humans, yet not so aggressive as to attack, got fed. Eventually, they no longer needed the strong jaws and sharp teeth of their feral counterparts. Their noses got smaller, too. Humans started breeding dogs to help with hunting, herding, standing guard, and carrying stuff. Humans deliberately bred dogs to be more adorable.
Cricket
I am Cricket, neighbourhood watch dog for Hennie and Bill. I love certain people and most dogs. I account for each one every day. Heaven help any strangers who go by. I wait for the day I go outside to have a word with them and see why they are walking in front of my house. Besides being a watch dog, I love to cuddle with my family.

Elli
We hugged. Elli taught me that dogs hug.
We talked. Elli taught me that dogs talk. She agreed it was time.
We slept in my bed last night. She gave me a shy kiss.
We cried. I lied. I wept. She smiled and wagged her tail.
We breathed her final breath, at one o’clock, today.
Good-bye sweet princess Elli. I love you forever.
