Hi, I’m John Miedema. I am active on Gander, LinkedIn, and Substack. I use GitHub for code. You can email me.

I am a lifelong practitioner of meditation, shaped by vipassana, neuroscience, and social work. For many years, I facilitated a meditation community at work and now offer the same practice online to the public. My aim is to refine this plain-language approach and publish it as a book. If you would like to join, please visit the Meditation Community page and subscribe to the Meditation Community newsletter.
My career as a Solutions Architect spans three decades at the Bank of Canada, the IBM Watson Group, and the Internet Archive. My current focus is neurotechnology consulting, advising executives and development teams on EEG solutions.
I enjoy collaborating to develop conceptual architectures that answer difficult questions. Don’t hire me if you don’t want genuine stakeholder analysis and user experience design—my approach often involves bringing the “wrong” person into the room. I have the coding chops for proof-of-concept and the decades of experience for production design.
With a Master of Library and Information Science, I bring a scholarly approach, evaluating claims through rigorous research. I have published scholarly work and hold a patent related to social search technology. I accelerate every stage of the process through the thoughtful application of AI. Follow my developments on LinkedIn.
I write contemplative essays and books. My interests include animism and panpsychism, consciousness and phenomenology, and the sentience of animals, rivers, and rocks. You can follow my writing here or subscribe to my newsletter. I publish independently through Snail Books.
Thanks,
John
