    Slow Reading

    Snail Books Home

The e-book will be available from Snail Books in the Spring of 2026.

The print edition can be purchased from Litwin Books.

As a student in the Master of Library and Information Science program in 2008, I undertook an independent study on the benefits of reading at a voluntary and reflective pace. The results were published the following year in a small book titled Slow Reading. I was delighted by the level of interest it received. Many people share a quiet conviction that reading slowly is sometimes preferable — a pleasure when reading for recreation and an aid to comprehension when studying complex texts. The book led to numerous interviews and speaking engagements, including one at the Library of Congress.

I presented at TEDxLibrariansTO. I wrote an article for the Guardian ten years later.
